The Great War tore their world apart, but they held onto hope Across the Divide.

World War I era historical fiction romance letters

It’s 1917, and the world is at war. For Nora Murphy, a young telephone operator in Halifax, her heart belongs to Patrick Doyle, a Canadian soldier preparing to face the brutal, muddy trenches of France. Their letters are their only lifeline, a constant reminder of the future they hope to share.

But the ravages of war and fate are poised to test their resolve. As Patrick’s company is sent to the merciless Battle of Ypres, he is thrust into a hellish landscape where survival is a daily struggle.

Back in Halifax, an unthinkable catastrophe shatters Nora’s world: a massive explosion in the harbour devastates the city, tearing their families apart.

Separated by an ocean and two tragedies, Nora and Patrick must each fight to survive in a world changed forever. When all seems lost, will they find their way back to each other?
